We enjoy a well-earned reputation for thoughtfully matching students with peers with similar or complementary social learning needs. Our groups are small enough to keep each student’s individual social learning goals in mind, but large enough to have fun while trying out new ways of thinking and being with others. Most groups have four or five students with one lead teacher and an associate.
Groups meet once a week from September to mid-June, with open enrollment through April. Students meet for a total of 60 minutes each week. The group consists of a social learning session, embedded in motivating, collaborative group activities, projects or play. Students then transition to a supervised 20-minute free-play session, during which they are guided to continue using the ideas and strategies they have learned, but in a more naturalistic play situation. Parents meet with Suzanne once a month during your child’s play session to learn vocabulary and strategies to help support your child outside of group.
